Addfield G250

A continuous stepped-hearth machine rather than a batch loader: it runs at 250 kg an hour, which is the scale an island council handles rather than a single property.

How it works

Not a batch machine. Where the SB, TB and TB-AB take one load a day and burn it out, the G250 runs continuously on a stepped hearth — waste is fed in at the top of the steps and works down as it burns, at 250 kg an hour rather than 750 to 2,000 kg a day.

That is a different scale of operation and a different kind of buyer. Addfield list its typical streams as general municipal, camp waste, food processing plants, oil sites and military installations: places where waste arrives all day from more than one source. On an island that means a council rather than a property.

It is normally supplied containerised, which is worth knowing before siting it. The plant in the photographs is two containers stacked — machine below, secondary chamber and flue treatment above — with access stairs and a walkway, and it is delivered rather than built on site.

  • A stepped hearth rather than a flat chamber floor: waste is fed at the top and works down the steps as it burns, so the machine takes a continuous feed instead of one batch a day.
  • Pyrolytic combustion — burning the waste in a starved-air primary chamber and completing the burn in the gases above it.
  • A refractory lining between 191 mm and 226 mm, thicker than any batch machine in this range.
  • A secondary chamber holding the flue gases for two seconds before they reach the stack.
  • Normally built into shipping containers — machine below, secondary chamber and flue treatment above — with access stairs and a walkway.

Built to order, not standard supply

  • Automatic bin tipper and auto-loading, so the hearth is fed without an operator on the platform.
  • Automatic de-ashing.
  • Dual-fuel operation.

Addfield builds these to order. Ask GreenWave for them at enquiry — they are specified before the machine is made, not fitted afterwards.
