Addfield MP300

Built for clinical and hazardous waste rather than general refuse — the machine a hospital or an island clinic specifies, running to 450 kg over an eight-hour cycle.

How it works

A front-loading machine, and that is the first difference from the batch incinerators above: the door is at working height and the chamber can be reloaded through the cycle rather than filled once in the morning. For a hospital producing waste all day rather than in one delivery, that is the difference between a machine that fits the day and one the day has to fit around.

The second difference is temperature. Its secondary chamber holds the flue gases at a minimum of 1,100 °C — 250 degrees above the agricultural machines — for two seconds. That is what clinical waste requires, and it is the figure a health authority will ask for.

Underneath the primary chamber runs Addfield’s Hot Hearth system, a double pass that carries heat below the floor of the chamber as well as around it. Their reason for it is high-moisture waste: an unheated floor leaves a cold spot, and a cold spot is where wet organic waste fails to burn out.

  • A primary chamber lined 220 mm deep in interlocking high-alumina firebrick — 40 mm thicker than the agricultural machines in this range.
  • A Hot Hearth double-pass system carrying heat beneath the chamber floor as well as around it, giving 360° heating and removing the cold spot where high-moisture waste fails to burn out.
  • A manually opening, securely locking front access door with a viewing port.
  • A secondary chamber holding the flue gases at a minimum of 1,100 °C for two seconds, with its own burnout burner and automatically controlled combustion air fans.
  • Two temperature sensor points, and automatic on-off control on both the waste ignition and Hot Hearth burners.

Built to order, not standard supply

  • Wet scrubber, for sites where the flue gases have to be treated as well as burned out.
  • Containerised installation — the machine, its scrubber, controls and generator built into a shipping container.
  • Fuel tank, 1,000 to 5,000 litres, for a site with no permanent fuel supply or as a backup to one.
  • Data logging on the control panel, where burn records have to be kept automatically.

Addfield builds these to order. Ask GreenWave for them at enquiry — they are specified before the machine is made, not fitted afterwards.
