How it works

The larger of the two batch machines, taking 1,300 kg in a single load against the SB’s 750 kg. It works the same way — top loading into a primary chamber lined 180 mm deep in high-alumina firebrick, with a secondary chamber above it holding the flue gases at a minimum of 850 °C for two seconds — but at nearly twice the chamber volume and 4.8 tonnes on the pad.

It also loads differently. A heavy-duty ram guard across the front takes the knocks of loading with a JCB or telehandler, which is what a property moves waste with when a load is measured in tonnes rather than bins.

The choice between this and the SB is one number: what your property generates in a day. Both run one load daily, so a resort producing more than 750 kg is either buying the TB or running the smaller machine twice — and a second burn is a second day of fuel and an operator’s afternoon.

  • A primary chamber lined 180 mm deep in interlocking high-alumina firebrick over insulation board and insulating brick — the multi-layer lining Addfield credit for a 40% cut in fuel consumption against comparable machines.
  • A pre-cast block impact zone in the loading chamber, taking the hit of loading so the refractory behind it does not.
  • A heavy-duty front ram guard, protecting the machine where waste is loaded by JCB or telehandler rather than by hand.
  • A counterbalanced lid insulated with refractory fibre: light enough to work by hand, and sealing tightly enough to keep the heat in the chamber.
  • A secondary chamber holding the flue gases at a minimum of 850 °C for two seconds, with its own burner, air fans and temperature sensor.
  • Two temperature-controlled main burners, switching against that sensor rather than running continuously.
  • 8 mm and 10 mm seam-welded mild steel casing, finished in a two-pack paint system.

Built to order, not standard supply

  • Bin tipper — electro-hydraulic, lifting and tipping over 150 kg so a load goes in hands-free.
  • Fuel tank, 1,000 to 5,000 litres, for a site with no permanent fuel supply or as a backup to one.
  • Data logging on the control panel, where burn records have to be kept automatically.
  • De-ashing doors, mechanically loading lids, and alternate loading arrangements, built to order.

Addfield builds these to order. Ask GreenWave for them at enquiry — they are specified before the machine is made, not fitted afterwards.

Environmentally sustainable incineration in the Maldives

Addfield’s own account of putting SB and TB incinerators onto Maldivian resort islands. It is worth reading for the conditions rather than the sales copy: resort waste arrives mixed rather than as the single stream these machines are usually specified against, so the commissioning visit in February 2022 was spent tuning the burn for that mix — and on an island where smoke or odour reaches the guests, that tuning is the difference between a working plant and a complaint.
